Beret Insignia Bundeswehr Cyber- and Information

Original insignia for the BW beret of the Cyber- and Information Unit

The Bundeswehr beret Insignia identifies the branch of service and is worn on the beret. It indicates membership in a specific branch of service and is an integral part of both the dress uniform and the off-duty uniform. Soldiers wear the badge on the left side of their beret.

High-quality, metal-embossed beret insignia in an antique silver finish. The oak leaf border encircling the design frames a stylized globe in the center; at the top is a double lightning bolt, at the bottom a coat of arms, and within the crest is the inscription “CIR.” At the bottom edge is an inlaid rectangular plate in the national colors of black, red, and gold. For secure attachment to the beret, there are four split pins on the back (bent inward for shipping).

Meaning of the Symbol

The globe represents tasks in the field of geoinformation, global reconnaissance, and the Internet with its global networking of cyberspace and information. The shield symbolizes the protection of the operational domain. “CIR” is the abbreviation for “cyberspace and the information.” The opposing arrow symbol represents surveillance and reconnaissance in cyberspace and the information domain.
